My charcoal drawings definitely improved over the semester, yet i still don't get along with them...these are from my figure class, each about 20-30 minute long on newsprint

first try on pastel

tomb design for modern china

So I was asked to design a tomb for my Modern China class. I REALLY DON'T WANT ONE, but I did this for fun anyway. The electricity part is probably not gonna work, someone with a better brain might figure out a plan, but I'm done with it. It's suppose to be more Chinese style, now it's more like a mix cause I was looking at a lot of European references...The budget of this thing is around the price of an Apply company, or 100 years of ringling's tuition.

Think I have so much fun with pencil, now that I should probably try something else, like ink?

fews

A drawing from FEWS, long pose, about 2 to 3 hours long

Sea Otter

Can't remember the last time I spend so long on a drawing. This took me about an entire night, without stopping. I was working very late in the night, with just a desk lamp, by the end I didn't even bother to try the other colors, so the lower half and the left is basically done in like 5 colors. I used a lot of white in this drawing, white color pencil does not work well at all. I have to switch to white chalk in order to get a white that really pops. Sadly white chalk doesn't work too well with color pencils once you covered the area with wax. The last thing I have to do is using acrylic. The lightest white areas are the ones I painted. I realize that I should not have picked anything with white fur, especially on toned paper, I had to put down the white first to set a base and then somehow OUTLINE the contour of the furs, it gets very annoying. With regular hair all you do is follow the hair line and be free, I just love people with straight long dark hair, they are like the best things to draw. But this sea otter is white, and WET, so I was like the entire time....

My strokes become a bit too violent over the years (I used to draw very very very carefully), if you saw my cat or hamster you may realize the difference. You can't look too closely on this one. Talking about how I beat the hell out of this drawing, my easel is literally SHAKING, it fell to the ground...I had to hold it to keep this poor thing in place. I could go on forever about this process, I was doing so much things at once, music, anime, shows, a bit facebook all that...
